Aurora is a beautiful and kind princess who had to be hidden away after her birth from the evil Maleficent.  Having a curse placed on her, Aurora took on the identity of Briar Rose from the time she was an infant.  She was raised in a cottage in the woods by three good fairies - Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather.  When Aurora meets the handsome Prince Philip, she forgets the fairies' warning about strangers.  She is soon discovered by Maleficent's evil raven and her curse becomes a reality.  Aurora falls into a deep, endless sleep until Philip saves her with a kiss.

Aurora is a princess by birth, as well as by marriage.
