The only daughter of an aged Chinese
warrior, Fa Mulan is a lovely, young maiden who longs
only to honor her family. It seems; however, that
she is destined to shame them instead when she foils
their plans at finding her a husband. When her
aging father is called to war, Mulan is outraged, as she
feels her father is too old and unable to fight.
So she secretly disguises herself as a man and takes his
place. Guided by her guardian dragon, Mushu, and
her lucky little cricket, Cri-Kee, Mulan fights
alongside her new army companions as they battle the
powerful Huns. In the end, she finds herself a
heroine.
Although Mulan is a
remarkable woman, I'm unsure why Disney
has labeled her as a princess. As far as I know,
her father was not royalty, and she marries Li Shang in
Mulan II, but he was only a general in the Chinese army.
Unless it's because the Emperor honored her with the
Chinese crest, I'm not sure. If you know why she
is classified as a princess, please
write me.
